What to expect on a first appointment?

Prior to your appointment, you will be required to fill out a new patient health history form and informed consent. When you do come for your first appointment, we will spend approximately 10 – 15 minutes reviewing your health history with the Massage Therapist. This may include asking you about any illnesses, past surgeries, medications and other health concerns. During this time, we will also ask you about your pain and conduct a physical examination to assess and diagnose the problem. Sometimes, other additional tests may be required such as x-rays. We will explain the findings of the assessment to you and discuss the treatment recommendations, ensuring your consent to treatment is informed and your questions are answered.

When we do commence treatment, depending on the area that needs to be addressed, you may be asked to disrobe after the Massage Therapist leaves the room. This is done in a professional manner to allow the Massage Therapist to work on specific areas of the body while leaving the rest of the body covered with sheets and blankets. If this is something that you do not feel comfortable with, please do speak with your Massage Therapist as they can adapt their treatment to any circumstance.

How long will I need treatment for?

For most, tangible results are seen early in treatment. Some people experience incredible pain relief and improved quality of life after only one treatment but commonly after 3 – 4 treatments, patients are seeing improvements.

Why Registered Massage Therapists?

At Innate Health Centre, all of our Massage Therapists are registered. The reason for this is that the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) ensures that all of its members undergo rigorous education and testing with a focus on client safety.
